Lost Boy: The True Story of Captain Hook by Christina Henry.
Man was this book ever good.
I love a different take on old tales. That’s what the book is about; a different take on the world of Peter Pan and how Captain Hook went from being a lost boy to Peter Pans greatest enemy.
This book is just chilling. It’s such a different and well done perspective and I don’t think I’ll be able to look at Peter Pan the same again.
It’s funny as it makes you rethink the Disney version of Peter Pan. Think Lord of the Flies and you’ve got this book. Captain Hook was a young lost boy named Jamie, and he became friends of Peter Pan. Then Peter betrayed Captain Hook.
It’s not true horror but it is dark and violent and gruesome and one that I felt I had to include on this list.
